Decide what to build before you build it.

From idea to roadmap, we help you work out what’s worth building, who it’s for, and why it matters — so time and budget go into the right things.

Sound familiar?

Plenty of ideas. Not much certainty.

The expensive mistakes in software are rarely technical. They’re building the wrong thing, for the wrong people, in the wrong order.

  • We have a long list of ideas and no good way to choose between them.
  • The roadmap is whoever asked most recently, or loudest.
  • We built it, launched it, and hardly anyone used it.
  • We know there’s an opportunity. We’re not sure what the first version looks like.
  • Every feature is priority one.

What’s involved

Clarity you can build on.

Strategy is only useful if it changes what happens on Monday, so everything here ends in a decision.

Discovery and research

We talk to the people you’re building for and look at how they work today, so decisions rest on evidence rather than assumption.

  • Interviews with customers and internal users
  • The problem stated plainly, and agreed
  • Assumptions listed, and the risky ones flagged

Shaping the product

We turn a broad idea into a concrete first version — what it does, what it deliberately leaves out, and how you’ll know it’s working.

  • A clear scope for a first release
  • Sketches and clickable prototypes
  • Success measures agreed up front

Roadmap and priorities

A roadmap ordered by value and risk rather than by who asked last — with the reasoning written down, so it survives the next round of requests.

  • Ideas weighed against shared criteria
  • The riskiest parts tackled early
  • A plan people can explain, not just follow

Testing ideas cheaply

Before a full build, we find the cheapest way to learn whether an idea holds up: a prototype, a manual pilot, or the right conversation.

  • Each experiment answers one question
  • Small tests before large commitments
  • A clear go, change, or stop at the end

How it runs

From a question to a plan.

Strategy work should be short and focused. What you get is a decision and a plan, not a thick document.

  1. Frame the question

We agree on what you need to decide, by when, and what would change your mind. Everything else follows from that.

  2. Gather evidence

Interviews, the data you already have, and a look at the alternatives your customers use today — enough to decide with confidence, and no more.

  3. Shape and test

We sketch the options, test the riskiest assumptions cheaply, and narrow down to what’s worth building.

  4. Plan the first version

A scoped first release and a roadmap beyond it, ready to hand to a team — ours or yours.

What to expect

What you get, and what it takes.

What you walk away with

  • A clear statement of the problem and who it’s for
  • Evidence from real users behind the key decisions
  • A scoped first version, with success measures
  • A roadmap in priority order, with the reasoning behind it
  • Prototypes you can put in front of people

What we’ll need from you

  • Access to your customers or users — or help reaching them
  • The people who hold the budget and the final say
  • Any data you already have on how things are used
  • A willingness to hear that an idea shouldn’t go ahead

Questions

Frequently asked.

We already know what we want to build. Do we need this?

Maybe not. If the problem, the users, and the first version are already clear, we can go straight to building. A quick check of the riskiest assumptions is still cheap insurance before a large build.

Do you build what you recommend?

We can — the same team can carry the plan into engineering. But the strategy stands on its own, and you’re free to take it to any team.

Does this work for internal tools, not just products we sell?

Yes. Internal tools have users too, and the same questions apply: what problem it solves, for whom, and what the smallest useful version looks like.
